Tanzania has three safari circuits, and each one of them, in its own right, would make Tanzania a top wildlife destination. The popular Northern circuit with the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater offers one of the best classical safaris in Africa, especially if timed with the annual wildebeest migration.

The Best Time To Visit Tanzania is from July to October when the country is at its driest. This coincides with the migration river crossings, however, all the parks offer amazing wildlife sightings at this time as the grasses and bush are at their least dense.

Tanzania Safari Cost is anywhere between $125 and $1,500 per person per night. A budget safari averages $150 per night, mid-range $350 and luxury $750. The extreme top-safaris can easily go up to $1,500 per night, or more!

To have at least four full days on game drives will give you enough time to see an incredible amount of wildlife. Tack on arrival and departure days, travel to and from the national parks and reserves, and we think the optimal time for your Tanzania Safari Tours experience is 6-7 days.

Currently there are no immunization shots required in order to gain entry to the East African countries of Tanzania, Kenya or Uganda unless prior to your arrival you travel through countries that are infected with yellow fever, cholera or other diseases. However for accurate and the most up-to-date information, please visit the embassy web site for the countries you plan to visit.

The Great Wildebeest Migration is one of Africa’s most spectacular events. Many people think it happens just once a year but it is in fact an ongoing event that occurs all year round. In late May/early June the migration (mainly wildebeests and zebras) begins its annual migration from the north of the Serengeti to the crossing of the Mara river, reaching Maasai Mara park sometime in mid-July/early August depending on rain. After the short rains in the month of November, the herds move back into the Serengeti and make their way to the southern pastures where they rest and feed through the rains until their search for better grazing leads them to begin their annual migration once again. While many people think that the great wildebeest migration only happens once a year, the migration is in fact an all-year-round event – with each time of year offering a unique wildlife experience.

Generally, the typical temperatures in most places in East Africa are: May to early August, day and night time temperatures of about 55 F to 70 F and 45 F to 65 F; mid-August to April, the daytime range is between 75 F to 80 F with night time temperatures of 70 F to 75 F; the rain seasons are in the months of March, April, May and November.

Vegetarian and other special diets can be accommodated. Please let us know ahead of time. Protein options may be minimal on a vegetarian diet, so you may want to bring protein supplements.

Whether you are on a lodge or Tanzania Camping Safari, below would be a typical menu: Breakfast: coffee, tea, porridge, fruits, fruit juice, scrambled eggs/omelet, sausage, toast, margarine, honey and jam. Lunch: hot tea, coffee, chips, sandwiches, biscuits, pancakes with honey or jam, and fruits. Dinner: soup, cooked meat or vegetarian meal (these include chicken/beef with rice, sliced fresh carrots and green beans, mashed potatoes, and salads), fruits, and fruit juice, and variety of hot drinks.
